Hi there! We are Justix GmbH, an international company builder for LegalTech businesses. We build companies which combine advanced technological capabilities with in-depth industry expertise, very large data sets and entrepreneurial execution. Our mission is to make legal simple & easy with great technology. Founded in February 2017 by experienced entrepreneurs and funded by a large family-owned industry leader, Justix grew very quickly into an international team of currently 30+ employees in Cologne (DE) and 60+ employees in Maastricht (NL). Our venture HelloLaw.com already has already helped 100,000+ customers solve their legal issues and is now on the verge of going international in many more European countries. We have very ambitious goals and we enjoy working on them together as one team with as little hierarchy, vanity and boredom as possible.

For our headquarters in Cologne, we are currently looking for a Legal Strategy & Innovation Specialist (m/f).

Requirements

Your tasks

  • Ensuring that our Legal Services Centers in all countries operate within the respective legal boundaries and have a very solid legal “license to operate” (e.g. Acts about Legal Services, Lawyers’ Profession and Remuneration, especially in relation to EU law)
  • Overseeing our LegalTech product strategy: ensuring ideas turn into MVPs and into products meeting customer needs and embodying legal and compliance requirements
  • Continuously screening the international LegalTech market to identify innovative and user-friendly products/ideas that could enrich our international business models
  • Leading and accelerating our internal change process to get our legal products and services as user-friendly, efficient and scalable as possible (towards customers as well as internally, think of HR-related legal issues, GDPR and other)
  • Being (or becoming) a well-respected and -connected thinker of the international LegalTech startup ecosystem and within the ARAG group

Your profile

  • 2+ years’ leadership experience in senior legal or management roles or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience as lawyer in an international, ambitious and innovative environment, preferably in the LegalTech sphere
  • Proven expertise in the areas of: The German Legal Services Act (“Rechtsdienstleistungsgesetz [RDG]”), the German Lawyers’ Remuneration Act (“Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz [RVG]”), the German Insurance Supervision Act (“Versicherungsaufsichtsgesetz [VAG]”) – especially in relation to EU law. Alternatively, you should be confident about becoming an expert in these areas very quickly
  • Master’s degree in Law with very significant international education
  • Fluent in English. Every other language on a professional level is a bonus
  • Entrepreneurial personality with a creative and agile outlook
  • Passion for improving people’s access to legal rights by using deep technology and combining it with human intelligence and empathy
  • Contagious work ethic with a sense of urgency and ownership
  • With your high ambitions and your pragmatic hands-on attitude, you can bring new tools and approaches to the company to keep our product development on the leading edge
  • Last but not least: you are a balanced character who loves the fast-paced, autonomous, dynamic and challenging work environment of a startup
